Vylani

HumanoidVylani

Vylani are a gregarious and resourceful people that have spread far and wide across the continent of Reylan, collecting and combining whatever innovations and traditions they happen across with those from their own long history. They are known by many names depending upon where they are from, such as the tengu of Nysaido, the aethel of Riss and the falcyn of Ardmyre.

Regardless of where they are from or what they call themselves, vylani all use the same game mechanics as the tengu ancestry as presented in the Pathfinder Advanced Player’s Guide (remastered in Player Core 2) but make use of the following ethnicities to detail various physical appearances and cultures.

Ethnicities

The different ethnicities of the vylani represent how their feathered people have adapted to different climates throughout Reylan. A vylani may be of any ethnicity regardless of what lands they call home. All vylani ethnicies speak Common, most also grant an additional language unique to their people, or access to other languages based on the location of their homelands.

Aethel are common and live across all of Riadus, though their communities are small and difficult to find. They have features that resemble eagles or hawks. They are powerfully built with a heavy hooked beak. Aethels are well known for their keen eyesight and often have the Keeneye or Scavenger’s Search feat and are of the Taloned heritage.
Alcid are found primarily along the northern coasts of Lethler and Luir. They have small frames and short, bright yellow or orange beaks, resembling auklets, puffins or similar aquatic birds. Alcids are often excellent swimmers and frequently have the Wavediver heritage.
Anatra live primarily along the coasts of the Ardmyrian Sea. They have short necks and wide flat beaks resembling the bills of ducks, geese and similar waterfowl. Anatra are almost always Dogtooth or Wavediver heritages.
Falcyn are found primarily on the Southern Continent and appear as smaller, more compact aethels, but with surprisingly sharp and strong beaks. Falcyns are often Dogtooth or Skyborn heritage.
Strig are rare and live in isolated communities throughout the central isthmus. They possess large eyes, a short hawl-like beak and a flat face resembling an owl. Many are of the Nightstalker heritage and have the Keeneye feat.
Tengu are native to Nysaido and live primarily in the Yorigami Mountains and keep to themselves. They have completely black feathers and a long, typically straight beak and resemble ravens. Most tengu have the Jinxed, Mountainkeeper or Stormtossed heritage.
